Well the Turkey Massacre Oscar goes to the director and producers of the movie “Saddam’s Troops: the Black Sun” filmed in the eastern city of Malatya in Turkey.
The genious director of Saddam’s troops wanted to shoot this scene whereby two horses would be dragged by, we don’t know, maybe Saddam’s troops. A brilliant script dear director. You have already been awarded an Oscar by us. The Academy will certainly spot your movie before the ceremony next year and we hope you will add their Oscar to your collection as well. Except one question remains: why the hell did you have to actually kill one of those two horses during filming?
Movies which contain images of cruelty to animals are disgusting even when you know that they are not real. Hellcome to Turkey – they become real.
Even Saddam himself liked horses. If this were to happen in Saddam’s Iraq, the “artists” responsible for the death of the horse would have been sentenced to death.
In Turkey, we don’t know what will happen to them. Presumably nothing. But we know that you will not watch this blood-stained movie. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism needs to know this too because they are one of the sponsors of this movie:
