In the course of the last three days, a full 2.5 million animals were butchered right in front of the eyes of small children in Turkey. And do you know why? In the name of religious duty.We don’t know from which era this cruelty comes from, but it is repeated in Turkey every year – a country that has been seeking to join the European Union. In a country where 5 million are unemployed, approximately 1bn dollar is spent each year on butchering animals. We are sure that God did not plan for this kind of heartless cruelty to be part of Islam.

To believe that God ordered the faithful to torture another one of its creatures in the name of religion is nothing but ignorant dogma inherited from medieval times. We do not want our readers to think that we are conducting anti-Turkey or anti-Islamic propaganda. What we are doing is to simply say no to all forms of massacre. We condemn ALL countries of all religious persuasions which put out scenes like these. And we are noting it down here because this blog is dedicated to Turkey.
There you have it:on the one hand, there is a Turkey which receives a 13mn euro grant from the European Union to combat rabies, and on the other hand you have another Turkey which spends millions of dolars to murder animals right in the middle of the streets.Whichever way you look at it, this is so fundamentally wrong.
How will the members of a nation who photograph a child with the decapitated head of an animal contribute to humanity? How will the authorities responsible for this account for all of this?

God forgive us all.
Right now, what you can do is you can sign our petition and remind the Turkish minister of tourism that you will never visit this country so long as the animal massacre continues.

Oh my God! This is sick! Are these humans?
What a tragic cruelty!
This is probably no different to what happens in abbatoirs all over the world , as Sir Paul McCartney once said ” If slaughter houses had windows we would all be vegetarian”
But most people deny themselves the truth and are then disgusted to see pictures such as these because slaughter is done ” out in the open ” !
The only way to even begin to be civilised is to become vegan !
If you eat meat ..then believe it – that animal suffered !
This is sick in the stomach…No wonder these small childern will become big terrorist one day..After all they think killing is OK whether humans or animals ..Who cares?
Unbelievble cruelty..Sick..this is Slaughter house in open
This is so awful. What kind of people are they? Stop all EU-money and stop Turkey from being a member of EU until the Turks change they way they treat animials.
I do not believe anymore, this is why! No human has this right especially under the name of God.
This is barbaric. It is true that islam doesnt condone this treatment of animals. How the hell can they justify this atrosity?
Only monsters could do such a thing and only monsters could watch such a thing happen and not stop it.
I am so angry..!!!
This must stop,to do this in front of young children only leads them to believe that cruelty of this kind is normal.
This is cruel. These are no people with heart education. They despise the life and suffering of the animals. Animal heads are held like trophies in the camera, bah. They amuse themselves. I am shocked. Such a land never comes to the European community.
Living in Turkey, I see this kind of cruelty every day. I wish I had never moved here. However, I am looking after and feeding so many street animals that I cant leave!
They are just PIGS here!
Christians are no better. This Christmas millions of turkeys, sheep, pigs, goats, chickens, cows, fish will be slaughtered at this time of “Peace and Good Will. It is a ritual sacrifice as well. The difference is they are bruatally slaughtered behind closed doors. I begin to dread Christmas more and more each year.
I am not able to write anything as I believe that a picture equals 1.000 words!
If there is a G…, I only pray that he/she tortures these monsters who bring such agony, terror and death to helpless animals for the rest of their sick lives…and forever afterward too. Hope he/she also tells them what idiots they were for their cruelty “in his/her name”. How disgusting – religion stinks if it insists on hurting animals. Beware of Man!!!!
Okay, you had me with other entries but with this one, HOLD ON! As you stated, it’s a RELIGIOUS ACT! These animals are sacrificed in the name of GOD and the meat is given to the POOR PEOPLE in the neighborhood.
It could be out of the ordinary based on the culture you are in but what about the animals killed in ANY COUNTRY in FOOD INDUSTRY?
Just because, they were done in factory and we do not see it, we don’t condemn other countries?
Animal cruelty is in EVERY COUNTRY! I resent armenians, greeks and so on, to try to take a cheap shot. GO READ ABOUT ANIMAL CRUELTY IN GREECE
I am NOT justifying, REGARDLESS OF ITS COUNTRY, ANIMALS SHOULD BE CARED FOR AND LOVED. But don’t single out Turkey. Look at your own backyard first!
I see that you love animals
Ifyou want add to your blog a free daily funny animal picture check http://animalicio.us/for-your-site
When will people ever learn that we are all animals and all have the right to be treated with dignity and compassion – whatever our fate.
Having seen the result where children have mutilated puppies here in Didim, the above is of no surprise to me at all.
Many children are brought up to have no compassion for animals and have watched their relatives butchering animals in the name of religion and therefore in my eyes, will never have compassion for their fellow man.
I am a vegetarian and at least I know that no animal will lose its life to either feed or clothe me.
I am a muslim person and do not live in Turkey. However I will point out a few facts before everyone strings out Turkey’s dirty laundry to dry itself!!
First and foremost, Turkey has a population of approx. 99% muslims. SACRIFICING an animal once a year is part of their religion. If you all understood the reason of why an Animal is sacrificed you would not question it.
Second of all, the animals are sacrificed and the meat is distributed to the poor! Those that are unable to fend for themselves, it is seemed as an act of charity.
They are not butchering animals! I suggest you all read up on how Islam teaches the practising of an animal being slaughtered. THAT is how it is practised in ISLAM and TURKEY! Not how other country’s “BUTCHER” the animals! That is what you call an inhuman practice! But I don’t see anyone currently picking faults with that. Or perhaps we should concentrate on how Xmas is fast approaching, but butchering animals in a ‘battery operated farm’ and electrocuting them is a humane practice.
At least the turkish animals are entitled to open space and good habitable environment..
Its great that you ppl have taken on a good cause, but to pick and demean a religious practice especially when you don’t understand it, is wrong! And perhaps, further research should be done into why it is done rather than boycotting a country that follows religion. I dnt see anyone boycotting UK on the basis of its involvement in “human rights intervention” all across the world!!!
They may look like humans, however, inside they are something else, something evil.
Its a shame you should be punished all of you your monsters
ok first of all i would like to say that i agree with all of u on some level, i am disgusted with turkey because of the thousand dogs they suffercated and burried alive, i dont know if anyone saw the pics or read the news, and the major killlings of dogs and cats in turkish animal shelter where u could only hear teh helpless screams of animals, therefore i am plain disgusted with turkey and seeing so much more cruelty coming from it makes me even more disgusted, secondly killing animals for religious purposes is pure crap no matter what anyone says, why dont u give fruits and vegetables to the poor, that way eveyone will be happy, animals will be alive, poor will be fed and your hands will not have innocent blood on them.
so do not try to feed me the crap that its for religious purposes, last but not the least even though turkey is so cruel to these animals we can not blame only turkey, each and every country does the same thing the only difference is that they do it in factories where we are unable to see them so how can we know that these animals did not suffer since we didnt see them? i am actually glad turkey does it in the open and i wish all the countries would slaughter the stock in the open so that people can see what they are eating and from where their precious steaks and hamburgers and chicken nuggets come from. maybe if they see what the animals go through they will all turn vegetarian and animal suffering can stop once and for all.
READ. carefully and neutrally.
Ok, first of all TO people who write comments without reading other’s comments and leaving replies such as “they’re not human, they’re barbarians” etc. :
Please, don’t be so prejudiced, not all Turkish people are “EVIL” you just CAN’T make a generalization like that. I’m Turk(I’m proud of that), and I know lots of people who love and take care of animals. I couldn’t say that there aren’t any “evil” people which kill animals meeninglessly. I hate them too and wish if they weren’t like that, but I know I can’t do anything to make them nicer. They see that kind of behaviors from their parents and sadly, in some provinces in my country people don’t get enough education. I believe that it’s not their choice, their parents. So, most of them (not ALL) interiorize their parent’s behaviors. And it repeats like that over and over. First you should consider these, and then comment or take action. Only if you help the PEOPLE (especially, the children I mentioned), you won’t be “like us; barbarians” , not if you judge.
TO the Islamic “Feast of the Sacrifice” HATERS :
To tell you the truth I’m not a Muslim or Christian, I don’t even believe in God (I know you’ve just said “As if I asked her”, I said that because I want you to know I’m not writing because I want to protect my religion, I’m just trying to be impartial.)
So I DO think that it’s a pointless event, but on the other hand, i think of the poors and people which need alms. The Feast is kind of a favour time. Those pictures are cruel, but like me, Muslims also know that “GOD” won’t accept their “farz” (means; religious duty required of all Muslims), if they do the tradition in un-Islamic ways (like pictures) [Islamic ways are like other food companies do.]
This “Feast” is just a obligation for Muslims, for the one’s which can afford other’s meal at the time of the feast acquires merit in Gods sight.
Lastly TO the owner and moderator’s of this page :
I’ve read most of the articles and comments you have written.
You’re absolutely right about people do things like “killing street dogs, poisining them” I HATE THEM ALL too, but I think it doesn’t matter if they’re Turk, Italian, American or etc. Don’t be “Racist”. I’m not saying that in my country things like these don’t happen, they’re real. But there’re lots of people which try yo obstruct these kind of behaviors.
Don’t blame Turkey, lots of people live in Turkey, be sure not all of them are CRUEL. Use the page for boycotting people do those. Not Turkey or Muslims. That would be racism.
If you have questions (not judgements) and things you want to share with me, i would be plesure to recieve your comments.

So religion gives you a licence to kill does it?
Shame on you Turkey shame on you
All of the animals should be removed from your country you kill everything bludgeon them in the streets in front of children! And poison/burn/and murder dogs and cats.
You obviously don’t have an ounce of compassion,
I have friends that will never visit Turkey as long as this blatent cruelty goes on.
First of all in all Islamic countries, the same scenes take place, not only in Turkey. These pictures depict the cruelty done by ignorant people. Not all Turks do the sacrifice this primitive way. In Islam, sacrificing the animal should be done by giving less pain possible to the animal. Unfortunately some dumbshits don’t know how to handle the animal properly. In my opinion the State should regulate these and they should take place behind close doors, make sure a professional butcher is employed. It should not take place out in the open, witnessed by people, especially by children. I personally am against the sacrifice of animals for God, but I can not judge people for religious beliefs. All I could say is, If it should be done, it should be done more humanely.
Second, you can not blame the whole nation by saying “I would never visit Turkey” , “Turks are barbarians” for the cruelty displayed strays by some municipalities, or sacrifice of sheep due to religious traditions. It is pretty judgemental and discriminating. It is like labeling all Germans “Anti-Semitist” for the acts of Hitler.
Third, if you are not a vegan (no animal by products either, no leather shoes etc), you should just shut up, instead of accusing other cultures due to their religious traditions. If you are eating meat, you have no right to judge other people killing animals for their religious beliefs.. It is double-standard. In this particular tradition, at least a good deed is involved, feeding the poor with this meat, only richer and well-to do people need to sacrifice the sheep and donate and distribute the meat the poor.
Just because the animals you eat are cut in the factories by modern methods does not make you more humane or more civilized. Again the life of the animal is involved, one way or another the animal murdered. Have you ever seen the cages chickens stuffed together to produce eggs? So if you are not eating cage-free chicken eggs, you should just shut up. Should I go on!!!
“GOD FORGIVE US ALL”? Why, not me. Apart from the fact that there are NO GODS what you see above is what everybody, being Muslim or not, does one way or the other, as long as they are unvegan.
I *AM* vegan. Are you?

Nichtsdestotrotz:
Please, stop this unhuman cruelty!!! Animals have also feelings and a spirit!!!
Stop this unhuman cruelty!
-oh god-
-oh god-someone stop these idiots
god forgives easily,
to forgive ourselfs is a little harder.
This is disgusting – but where is the petition to sign ?????
@viola:
Love, Peace and Unity
STOPSTOPSTOP
God never loves people who do such bad things!!!!! Only the devil love them!!!!!!!!!!
It is no holy thing if human creature torture each other! Please think – every living creature feels pain and fear, animals the same like we do…
GOD WILL NEVER FORGIVE EVIL !!!
Turkey can SHAME hiself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a cruelty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
shame on you!what religious duty is killing an innocent!?
This is not about Turkey. This is about religion. You can similar stuff in all islamic countries
TERRIBLE CRIME!!!I hope, that people will pay for these and others pain.
We all of us have a long way to go as a people.
I urge you all to question the very existence of such a website. If you sincerely believe that this website was written with the intention of stopping animal cruelty, I have nothing to say. However, if you believe as I do that this website has a hidden agenda, which is an out right attack on the people of Turkey and anything Turkish, please don’t let such small minded people succeed.

^ Are You Stupid?
Or what? I am half Turkish and I live here in Turkey. Do I feel offended? Ofcourse not this is the truth.. What should we all just turn our backs and pretend it doesn’t happen, even though on my very own street in the last 5 months 3 dogs and 1 cat have died from being piosoned, 2 dogs have luckily survived from the piosonings.
It is not Turkish people who are curel its people in general, yet here unfortunatly there is no animal welfare enforcement.. so it happens daily.

MERCY!EDUCATE YOUR CITIZENS!!!CIVILIZE THME.!!!
STOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP!
eklig. Primitives Volk. Schreckliche Kultur und gefährliche und brutale Religion.
Ich hasse diese Leute.
This confirm my theory. Human being are the most dangerous specie on eath. We are suppose to share this world with other creatures, but instead of taking care of those creatures we make a hell on earth for them.
